The 7 Year Summer Itch

I realized the other day that this will be Bart and I's 7th summer together. SEVEN! That seems like a big number to me. We met the Summer of 2009, were engaged Summer 2010 and married Summer 2011. Bart had his first teacher summer in 2012 and I got my job. Summer 2013 was spent enjoying life. Summer 2014 I was super pregnant and here we are: Summer 2015. Crazy how much can happen over a 7 year time frame isn't it??

So here are a few (several) pics to take you down memory lane with me

Summer 2009
No photos. We had just met and he was still trying to win me over

Summer 2010
This summer was awesome. We were both students, but not taking any summer classes. Hanging out and enjoying Cache Valley. This was also the summer we got engaged (July 24) so we were pretty much inseparable

we took our first major road trip to Oregon together and learned we DID like each other enough to spend a week with no breaks

Summer 2011
This summer started off awesome because not only did Bart graduate from USU- but we got married! So we spent our honeymoon in San Diego and the rest of the summer was spent mostly indoors *cough cough*
this was technically Spring Break of 2011- but I couldn't resist sharing this cute pic
had to show this cute pic of Bart playing Uncle

on our honeymoon

Summer 2012
This was the year we started running so the summer was filled with some of our first races. We also took an amazing trip to Angel's Camp CA and San Fransisco. It's one of my favorite vacations we have taken

one of my all-time fav pics

the race that started it all...

we also ate lots of fabulous food

and had LOTS of snowcones

Summer 2013
This summer was filled with LOTS of running. We also went to Moab and Jackson Hole. This was the first summer I spent on my Hashimotos diet so I was secretly craving candy in every pic...

Moab hike

Jackson Hole: Typical Bart

our second Dirty Dash

Nebo Half!

Big Cottonwood Half

Summer 2014
I was 7-9 months pregnant and NOT interested in photos. We did start the summer off with my graduation from the University of Utah- so that was about the only photo op of the year

this pic right here sums up why I didn't take very many haha! yay for summer heat/bloating

Summer 2015
This summer has only just begun but I can't wait! Mckenzie is at such a fun stage right now we are already having a blast with her.

I hope you enjoyed a little blast from the past. I know I loved putting this together- it was so fun to look through old pics and remember all the fun we have had in the past 7 years. Summers look much different compared to our care-free college days- but I wouldn't trade them for anything.

And by Fun Run they mean...not so fun.

I'd say it's been a pretty successful summer...I have a few more races to get in before the end of the Summer. I wish I could say it was getting easier, but these races are all challenging. But that's the point right? Either way it's been a blast. Stay tuned for more.

fat kid watching

So I'm sitting here watching the Olympics instead of going to the gym. Nothing kills your self esteem like eating chips and watching the fittest people in the world jump over things and 16 year olds swim like fish. That being said, I still fit into my pants that I pulled out of the closet last week so I'm not too concerned.

Bart and I went running on the Jordan River Parkway on Saturday and it was a really nice place to run. I may or may not have been a little paranoid running by myself but I'm happy to announce I wasn't attacked. (Go me)

Speaking of running, tomorrow is my one and only day off this week and I still have to wake up early and go running. Having a hubby train for a half-marathon = feelings of fat and laziness if I don't go run with him. ( I am sensing a theme in this blog post, how bout you?)

My first official day at ABC4 is Wednesday!!! That's right ladies and gentlemen, my big-girl job begins August 1st. I will be waking up at 4:30 AM (as in before the butt-crack of dawn)   Monday-Friday. I get off by 2:30 though so I'm thinking I will be able to adjust well. This week is going to be really long because I have to finish off my week at the salon, but I am hoping it will go by fast. And then guess what?!!?!? I get weekends off. I don't think some of you can comprehend how fabulous this is for me. Never in my young working life have I had a job that didn't consist of nights and weekends. I don't know what I am going to do with myself. Oh wait, yes I do. I am going to finally understand the greatness of Fridays and sleeping in on Saturdays.

The Whole SheBang

It's no secret that I'm a SheDaisy fan. They were my first CD. I didn't own Brittany Spears or N'Sync. SheDaisy was also my ONLY CD for a long time. (I really never have been cool enough to care about music too much) Their first CD was released in 1999 and I've been listening to them ever since. Imagine my excitement when my sister calls me and says they're in town! Of course we had to attend, and it was awesome.

Cloudy sky, Pixie Stix and a Blue Slushie. Perfect!

days off

I'm still in no mood to blog. why?? don't ask me because I have no idea. This past week I only worked two days so Bart and I had plenty of bonding time. Which is good because my work schedule for the next two weeks sucks so bad! We were trying to figure out a time to get together with friends and it's not happening until those two weeks are over because I'm basically going to be living at work. yay!

But like I said, Bart and I enjoyed each other

we set up a mattress pad complete with sheets and pillows in our front room and watched movies. Red Tails and then This Means War--we kind of had a theme goin' on--

we played arcade games where I proceeded to kick Bart's trash in most games--except the safari one, he killed those giant bugs like a BOSS

we also enjoyed some nappage. can't have days off without a nap right?

we went to the Jordan River Temple and it was lovely and just what the doctor ordered

we saw Brave which is so freakin cute. I LOVE the sound track and I may or may not have teared up a little bit --don't judge!--

so after today I work 10 of the next 13 days...which may or may not equate to blog posts.

update

so you know how I told you I would rather be doing other things than blogging lately? well that's still the case.

all is well in Bart and Megan land, except Bart just slipped in a puddle of water and pretty much broke his toe and is crying loudly about it while I try to watch This Means War (greatest movie)

we ran our 10K and it was really hard. it was a lot harder than I thought. i may or may not have cried on my mom's shoulder after. don't judge me. it was hard and hot and i had all sorts of emotions running through my veins. it took about 5 hours after the race for me to even think about putting my tennies on again. i think this month i am just going to work on my speed, not distance. but at least we can check that off the list right?

the 4th of July was a blast. my niece is cuter than yours, and I still want to kill the dog upstairs. like i said, all is well in Bart and Megan land.

28.6.12

goals, deliciousness and running

This is why I don't make specific goals -like blogging 5 days a week for the summer. I mean lets be honest, no one is going to be upset if I don't blog 5 days a week so i'm kind of failing at the whole blog 5 days a week thing. Also, when I have free time I don't want to spend it on the computer. I want to spend it on my couch in the horizontal position napping. Or i have been spending it running because our 10K is next Wednesday. or my cute funny husband is always home so i'm not spending my time blogging, and i'm sorry? but not really.

that being said, I must admit we are dominating my summer list so that's happy. I still need to watch Star Wars and go camping, but we are only 30 days into my 80 days so I'm not too concerned.

I have been cooking though. In fact, I have cooked all this week! Go me. I made delicious beef enchiladas that were delicious and really good and did I mention they were delicious? because they were. and they were gone by the end of the day. that's one thing I don't love about cooking. you cook and spend all that time and then BAM it's all gone. oh well, they were tasty.

i have also finally been losing some weight. I haven't exactly had a specific goal in mind because I have a health teacher for a husband who is constantly reminding me that the number on the scale doesn't matter (which it doesn't). however, I have lost 14 pounds which is pretty cool, despite not caring about the number on the scale. I say it's cool that I have lost 14 pounds but when I really think about it I should probably be annoyed a little bit since it has taken me 8ish months. and I'm even stretching it because technically I didn't start at my highest weight 8ish months ago, so if I'm only counting the past 8 months than I have lost 10 pounds...in 8 months. not exactly the numbers most people are wanting. I'll admit it has been frustrating at times but all in all it's been awesome. I haven't altered my lifestyle in an unrealistic way, I still eat sugar and I don't count my calories. Obviously I don't eat a ton of food but those habits have just happened the more active I have become. I can also run more than 5 miles, which is pretty bad ass if I do say so myself. I never thought I would be a runner, or would be able to run but I am and I can. I'm more proud of my running progress than I am the number on the scale. As for my pant size? (it's on my summer list) I am in-between sizes which I guess is cool but it would be cooler if the in-between became just in so I could fit properly in my clothes.

speaking of running, June sucks for running. it's 80 degrees at 7 am which kind of puts a damper on the running outside thing. and running on a treadmill is boring so I have ran about half as much as I ran the last 2 months. Bad news. I'm hoping I can come up with a better system because it's not like July is going to cool down any. I just need to wake up early and go running but it's really hard to get out of bed when there is a warm sleeping body next to you right? because if i'm getting out of bed it makes me want to punch that warm sleeping body in the face because he gets to stay in bed...

well that's about all i had to say today, i hope you feel smarter and happier after reading. july is going to be a really fun month so i will be sharing all that happiness with the cyber world. you're welcome?

Logan Visit

So I have missed a few days, I hope all 7 of you who read this haven't been too bored by my lack of blog posting.

Bart and I went to Logan for the weekend and did Logan-y things. We went to Cafe Sabor, did farm-boy stuff like haul Hay, took a nap on his dad's couch, had dinner with my great friends/normal co-workers at Center Street Grill, jumped off clips at Porcupine Dam and even took a trip to Walmart (because it wouldn't be  a trip to Logan without going to Walmart) I even got my ring cleaned at the Morgan Jewelers in Logan since the Morgan Jewelers in Salt Lake SUCKS.
I was very helpful, watching bart work

look how cute he looks in his dad's workin' clothes
snow cones!

chillin on a rock
