Crazy Chick

My clubhouse key is going to turn me into a crazy chick. Or rather, the lack of having a clubhouse key is turning me into a crazy chick.

Each month Bart and I pay an HOA fee. Most of that fee goes toward the beautiful clubhouse with 24 hour fitness room plus pool and park and other things I don't care as much about as the fitness room. We are up to date on our HOA fees. In fact, we are 6 months AHEAD on our HOA fees. And yet here I am, sitting in my home we bought TWO WEEKS AGO without said key.

I have contacted the idiot HOA lady who has repeatedly lied to me. She first told me we would have to pay $50 if we wanted a key since the previous owner didn't leave hers. I then informed her that since it's not OUR FAULT the previous owner didn't leave the key there was no way in hell we would be paying that $50. She said okay fine I will put one in your box tomorrow.

That was 10 days ago.

Every other day since then I have called and emailed inquiring about my key. Each time she says she will put it in the next day. So either she has put 5 different keys in some mystery mailbox or she's been lying to me to get off the phone.

Well guess what biotch. The claws are coming out tomorrow. Watch out.

Satan's Spawn and Killer Dogs

So I have this regular client who comes and gets his hair cut and not only is it the ugliest style of all time, the guy is a total douche. What he said today though really bothered me.

So we were talking and he asks,
"are you a member?" (of the LDS church in case you were confused)
I told him yes
he acts surprised and then asks "well are you active?"
I again say yes
he then says "then don't you find it hard to work in a salon environment? girls who do hair usually aren't that way."

This isn't the first time he has mentioned this either. The first time I did his hair he asked me if I was LDS and when I told him yes he acted so surprised and again said "you usually don't find those kind of girls working in this profession" this pissed me off at the time but I just didn't say anything because he's a douche and i'm better than that :) After today though it really upset me.

I have a problem with this on so many levels but first of all, what the hell does that mean? is it hard for me to have a set of beliefs and standards in a salon where everyone believes different things? no, no it's not. when it comes to religious beliefs it will take much more than just working with someone who thinks differently than me to change that.  I guess I don't understand the world this guy lives in. Does he really never associate with people outside of the LDS church? Is he worried that these Non-Mormons he speaks of will attack him with their different beliefs (or lack thereof)?

Second, I don't know about you, but I don't characterize the people in my life to Mormon or Not Mormon. People at work are respectful about my church and I'm respectful about theirs. They ask me questions and I happily answer them. I don't determine my friendships based on religion because guess what, I have had some pretty shitty friends who were LDS and I have some amazing ones who aren't.

Third, did he really just put every single hair stylist who ever walked this earth into the category of skanky stupid girls who have no standards and no religious connections?  He isn't the only one who acts surprised that I am in college or that I can actually put a sentence together, but he's the only one who has actually said it out loud. Every hair dresser I know is a classy classy person and just because we spike our hair or have different colors in it doesn't mean we are Satan's spawn.

People like him are the reason why the church has a reputation of having judgmental members. Unfortunately, I am meeting more and more people like this. We are supposed to be emulating Christ and I'm positive this wouldn't be the kind of attitude He has toward those who are not LDS.

I also had this client today come in and talk about his killer dogs. Literally dogs that are trained to kill people. as in rip their faces off. and I quote, "if someone tried to come into my house without being invited, my dog would kill them, as in murder them right there. it's what he was bred to do" Okay psychopath, thanks for giving me nightmares for the next month. Killer dogs? Seriously? This guy trains them. Apparently they are kind and gentle to kids and their owners but as soon as they sense a bad guy BOOM they kill. Ummm...what if the dog was just PMS-ing that day and decides your child is annoying (Because it probably is) and bites your child's face off? What then? I am all for protecting yourself and your home, but killer dogs just sound like my nightmares coming to life.

Love-Suckers

"So how long have you been married?"

"one year"

"Oh, so you guys still love each other then."

WTF?

I had this conversation with someone the other day and unfortunately this wasn't the first time. Why are people so depressing about love? I'm sorry your love life sucks but stop being stupid about mine! I told Bart I didn't want to be that future couple who doesn't really like each other. Call me a crazy newlywed but I don't think that is how a marriage has to be.

In my mind it takes two to make a bad/depressing/non-loving marriage just like it takes two to make a fun/happy/loving one.

16.5.12

Sometimes Yesterday in Africa

Sometimes I have good days where I discover I got straight A's in school and then go run 4 miles.
That was yesterday.

Today I am going to attempt to make chicken enchilada's. This can only mean one thing: my day is going to go downhill from here because let's be honest, cooking kinda pisses me off.

Also, another intern started and she is kind of stupid. Someone asked her what she wanted to pursue in broadcasting. Her reply? "I really just want to save kids in Africa. Like, own my very own village." Watch out Africa, there's a crazy chick ready to take over your world!

Then when she found out I was married she just looked at me with pity in her eyes and said "but you're so young!" then later she asked me how old I was (22) and again she's like "and you're married??" (in the annoying wow i'm judging you tone) and I raised my voice a little and said ya, and I love it so shut the hell up. okay maybe I didn't say that but I wanted to. I did say that I loved it in a tone that indicated we were don't discussing the downfall of my life that was marriage.

20.3.12

Editing Douche

Wow I have dealt with some of the stupidest people today.

First of all, when you are in a group of 8 working on a video maybe you shouldn't be an ass and edit all by yourself for 40 minutes while everyone else is just sitting around doing nothing. You're controlling issues need to be worked out somewhere other than the classroom. Thanks douche.

Next, Salt Lake Community College: You are a freaking joke. Demanding proof that I graduated high school? Umm is the fact that I have attended two ACTUAL Universities not count? I am sorry that most of your attendees are high school drop outs and the fact that you now have to have a policy that makes sure the applicant has graduated high school is pretty pathetic. I just need to take a damn math class from you. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop flattering yourself into thinking I want to spend the rest of my days in your buildings, I JUST NEED A MATH CREDIT.

I have such a bad attitude toward school right now, it's really not helping anything. Also, I have a test next week and have NO clue what I am doing. I guess that is what happens when I go to class but just plug in my headphones and not even hear what the professor is saying.

Did I mentioned I'm annoyed? At least tonight we are having family over for dessert for Bart's birthday (don't worry, a birthday post is pending). Rootbeer Floats and my failure of a cake? (also post pending) what could be better?

31.1.12

douche with the keys

i have the biggest DOUCHE in one of my classes. he not only wears his keys on a key chain attached to his belt loop, but he wears his hair like Elvis and tries to sport the skinny jeans. (key word: tries). He also drops the F-bomb like nobody's business. He said I can just "get the F%&$ out" of class because I said the interview we watched with Chris Farley wasn't funny. seriously? i didn't even respond to him, making him look even douche-ier. as he walked up to the front of the class for something I turned to the guy next to me and he's like "i don't think I have ever met anyone who I want to punch so bad in my life" he's a joke, and an ass. to top it all off, he plays Mario in class. So basically here is this guy that was made fun of all growing up because he is a geek that is obsessed with video games and doesn't know how to socialize and now since he is older he decided he was just going to hate the world and be a dick to everyone that threatens him.

there is also another kid in class who is being the biggest whiner about the quizzes we have every morning. If you are late, you don't get to take it. Sounds typical right? Well apparently this guy has gone through his whole life never having to be on time for anything. EVERY SINGLE DAY after class he asks our professor about doing the quizzes, he says even if he leaves at the same time every day he can be late. Her response? "Well that sounds like life to me" EXACTLY! what is he going to do if he gets a big boy job? complain and whine about having to be on time? just shut the hell up and either be on time or miss the points. everyone else in the class manages to be on time and guess what, if we aren't, we miss the points too. it is not a big deal, stop being a child.

also, both of these boys say like, like, every other word. Like they can't like seem to get their point across without like saying like. you sound stupid. i am so happy i have a husband that threatens to punch me in the face if i say like in the wrong way (figuratively speaking OF COURSE)

17.1.12

I couldn't even, like, control my laughter

So as I am sitting in my World Music class a few girls sit directly behind me and talk THE ENTIRE TIME. These ladies didn't whisper either. Now I know what you are thinking, sit in the back and you will be next to talkers right? Except I wasn't in the back, I was in the 6th row of the huge auditorium! The teacher is hard to hear in the first place which is why I like to sit closer. So since I couldn't hear or pay attention to my professor at all thanks to the chicks behind me, I decided to be a creepy stalker and type down what they were talking about. Each new topic is in a different color, and each new line is the other girl talking. The main girl will be in Bold

These girls were stupid, and here is my proof.

He tweeted her. It's like your so dumb.

Does she ever like tweet him back or anything?

No!

Is he ugly?

No I think he's cute.

Have you not noticed that I am so oblivious to everything around me?

This picture of Meradeth she took this picture with my phone and it's supposed to be a creeper picture.

She is just digging for compliments.

I know

If I could punch anyone in this room I'd punch you.

She doesn't like me. I don't like her and he said that's what you said and I was like no and he would be like I don't hate you but he's just like I think we could be friends (I typed this word for word. Like I said, stupid.)

I hated Nikki and I don't even remember why.

I was like DON'T EVER SAY THAT TO ME.

I'm in class Yo

No unfortunately it's chase hunsaker.

Who's that? Hot boy?

No I'll show you .hes like way nice but. He won't even accept my friend request he's so retarded.

MARCY YOU'RE SO WEIRD!

You don't think anyone likes you.

Because everyone was mean to me, well maybe I was mean to them,

ya you were mean.

I liked beig mean in high school it was fun. I was never like out right mean to your face.

Ya you spit on my car.

No I didn't! I never did that.

The only person I was really rude to was Lauren, I wassoooo rude to her. She like talked to me on FB and was like why do you hate me?

Did you think I liked -boys name- because I remember you did and I totally didn't.

Meradeth would talk about me like I was a mean girl. Like I was invited to a party and I don't go because I was mean.

Oh my gosh are you kidding me?

Everyone wanted to be your friend and just started making up this stuff like you're like the queen and we are the peasants so I just used that story. I was like meradeth do you realize what you just said?

It was so funny I couldn't even like control my laughter.

People used to like brag about being my friend.

What I concluded from all of this was that these two girls went to high school together but weren't really friends and this was the first time they had really gotten together since then. I have to admit it was a pretty entertaining way to spend my class time, but I am really hoping I don't ever have to sit in front of them again.

4.12.11

ASK TELL ASK, TELL?

Customer "So you don't work a lot"

Me "what?"

Customer "Well I have never seen you here before"

Me (in my mind) "oh, well since YOU have never seen me here that must mean I am NEVER at work because YOU are ALWAYS here at ALL times of the day...right?"

I really hate it when people TELL instead of ASK. Obviously not all of the time. Yes, it is appropriate to TELL things a lot of the time, but you don't TELL a question. You're supposed to ASK a question. There are girls at work who will say "I'm going home" instead of asking "can I go home" and then wait for me to respond. Sorry honey, but unless you are going to ASK me, then don't expect a response. They get all butt hurt because I won't say okay yeah that's fine go ahead but ya know what? if you don't ASK me, then I have nothing to ANSWER. Same with customers. They just TELL me stuff and then expect me to ANSWER. look, if you think you know everything, then who am I to TELL you differently?

Keep your Sh*t to yourself

Dear complete strangers,

Despite what you might think, I am NOT a therapist,  I DON'T care about the issues in your life, I have no good advice for you, and I tune you out usually when you start to tell me your life story. Please realize this next time you come in to get your hair done.

Sincerely,

Megan.

Why is this letter necessary? Well mostly because Bart said I needed to be in a good mood by the time he got home and since work was so stupid today I figure venting about it should cheer me up.

This lady came in and as she was removing her bright red curly wig that was being held in by 20834 bobby pins, she just went off on how she is such a big mess. Without even stopping to get a reaction from me she went on to tell me about how much she is so embarrassed by herself because for the past four months she has just been sitting around so depressed because of all these events that had happened. She didn't stop talking slash almost crying the whole time. I honestly stood there and kept telling myself that she is God's child too and I need to be nice, that's how ridiculous she was!

Now, if this was the first time this had happened I wouldn't be as annoyed but it happens all. the. time. The week of Thanksgiving I asked this lady if she was hosting Thanksgiving at her house this year and for the next 45 minutes I heard about how her son-in-law and daughter-in-law had an affair with each other a couple years ago so no, she won't be hosting Thanksgiving. WTF??? I. DON'T. CARE. Call me heartless all you want but seriously, keep your dirty laundry and skeletons to yourself please because I don't get paid enough to hear about your shitty life all day.

The best part is at the end of this WAY too personal conversation they always look at me like I am some long lost daughter and thank me so much for listening and being so great. You're welcome crazy, please don't come back.

Clearly being a hair stylist is NOT my life calling. (duh)

30.8.11

90's dude, tennis lady, and rocks

The gym is a blogger's paradise.

There is a guy there that wears a jersey everyday with no shirt underneath and has bleached spikey hair because apparently no one told this poor dude that the 90's are over.

Tonight there was also this stupid lady who comes right over and changes the channel I am watching, okay fine, she didn't know I was watching it, but the problem I have is that the channel she changes it to is playing on the TV right next to the one I was watching. And the kicker? SHE CHANGED IT TO TENNIS. Seriously? Tennis? Tennis is stupid to watch, not to mention watching it on TWO TV's at the gym is stupid. This isn't your home theater lady, you can't just change all the TV's to the shittiest channel just because YOU want to watch it. You have no idea how upset I was. It was embarrassing how upset I was, and the fact that I am still upset and blogging about it is also potentially embarrassing.

Bottom line? like I have said before, people at the gym are crazy.

Moving on,

Bart and I were watching a cheaply made documentary about the drug problem in Utah County, aka Happy Valley and all I have to say is that people need to get over themselves. This one guy was talking about how his sister moved to California because she was "sick of being judged" well ya know what lady? I feel sorry for you, I feel sorry that you let other people dictate your life. I promise not very many people care what you are doing -good or bad- so stop flattering yourself into thinking that everything you do or don't do is being scrutinized by the neighbors.

You are being what my dad calls a rock.
You are letting things happen to you, and acting on you, instead of acting on them.

You have complete control of your feelings, including being offended that people are judging you. GET OVER IT. You are going to be judged everywhere you go, that is just the truth of this sad sad world we live in. People will judge you based on a number of things when you are different from them. You can't move to a different state every time your neighbor looks at you funny and then blame it on the state itself. It's stupid and self absorbed.

23.8.11

Radio Guy

Dear guy in my radio class,

You say you interned for ESPN in D.C but you don't know the difference between two different mics? Just because you took out the trash and got some coffee doesn't mean you know everything about radio.

and of course you drive a golf cart around campus, of course.

Sincerely,

Megan

17.8.11

I hate today and it's only 9 a.m.

The U and I are not getting along.

Monday I drove up to campus for the first time by myself, taking lots of wrong turns and finally ending up where I need to be. Pick up my U Card (Picture is hideous of course) and then go to the financial office to see why my aid hasn't gone through yet. The boy at the desk who needed a hair cut and talked too fast said my status is "recently married" so I have to do 3409834 things before they will get my aid through.

Me: What about my classes getting dropped?

Stupid front desk kid: Well you are for sure going to want to make sure that doesn't happen

(yeah no shit dude.)

Me: Yeah, so how do I do that?

Stupid front desk kid: Well you can go to the tuition office after you hand in those 3409834 things and blah blah blah blah (insert terms and words and phrases I don't understand here).

Okay so I leave, I come back today for my math placement exam (I freaking hate math by the way and not because I suck at it, but because it has become virtually impossible to enroll in a damn class. It should NOT be this hard. I haven't taken math for over 4 years but that doesn't mean you are going to stick me into the class that I took when I was in 10th grade.)

Anyway, I take that test, and yep you guessed it, didn't get into the one high enough I need. So I checked to see when the class I can get into was being offered and of course it's like monday-friday from 11-1230. Seriously? Every. single. freaking. day. at that time? Thanks but I would like to be able to take other classes this semester too.

Moving on

I came with what I thought was everything I needed to get my Financial Aid in order but no, of course I didn't have everything. Of course they need a copy of my marriage license because ya know the fact that I have already changed my name through every government organization including social security isn't proof enough that I actually got married.

This has become the biggest pain in my ass and I am NOT driving up here again today for this. In fact, I am going to go home and lay by the pool all day because I am pissed and officially done trying to make this whole University of Utah thing work (for today).

Oh, and BUCK FYU for giving me a $50 parking ticket yesterday.

29.7.11

Megan Vs. Banker

So I had to close my bank account today so Bart and I don't have so many extra ones and who knew it would be such an ordeal

This guy acted so butt hurt that I was leaving. I told him I got married and it was just easier for me to move to his bank than the other way around. I also told him that there weren't a lot of these banks around Salt Lake, he immediately said "well yeah, we are more quality than quantity. those other guys will just take your money and handle your transactions" (um....isn't that the point? I don't really need a bank account for anything else...)

He went off asking me questions about why "they lost." Dude, there were no winners or losers in this because we didn't have an argument about it, it wasn't even really a discussion, I just assumed I would move my money over to Bart's account, no argument needed.

He then went on to tell me that later on in our marriage I will realize that I will always be right and my husband will give me whatever I want because his brain is finally to the point where it realizes the consequences for actions. WTF. This has nothing to do with the fact that I lost some kind of fight so I have to close my bank account!

I mentioned that I was using a credit union now and all hell broke loose. He went off saying how they can't be trusted because they play dirty and don't have to play by the rules or pay taxes blah blah blah low interest rates blah blah blah. Seriously dude, CALM DOWN.

I was really annoyed that I kept having to defend my actions to this guy. He told me he was new so maybe that is why he was acting so weird but either way, I had good feelings about this bank until my encounter with this banker. I told him it was nothing personal, trying to lighten the mood but he just said, "well yeah, we do kind of take it personal." Well shit, my bad, I guess I should have thought about what YOU wanted and what is best for YOU in my life because heaven forbid I am doing this because it benefits me, you're right, how selfish.

13.7.11

T: Twins

So believe it or not another stupid mother came in with her kids today to get their hair cut and she let us know right away they are twins

"I don't know if you can tell
(we could) but they're twins." Cool lady. Now shut up

This mother decided that she didn't want her twin boys to look like twins anymore. She said they were going to a reunion and she "wanted people to realize there are two of them" Duh lady, I am sure your family realizes there are two kids and if they don't, then they don't sound like great family members anyway.

So one of them gets on my chair and starts touching stuff and I am in no mood for that so I wasn't very nice...and his mom kind of glared at me but whatever, if your child is going to touch my stuff then I have the right to tell him to keep is dirty little hands to himself. I asked him to sit down to see if he was tall enough without a booster seat and the mom yells out that he is (thank you peanut gallery, but I can take it from here) turns out he ISN'T tall enough so he got the seat.

Anyway, she wants their hair cut differently so they look different (even though they are identical) but she also wants them both to have short hair. News flash lady, every. single. short. hair. cut. looks. EXACTLY. THE. SAME. your children will not be the exception. How does she rectify this? By making us carve their freaking initials into the side of their head.

She asked me if I was good with designs and I just told her straight up that no, I am not good with designs so I am not promising anything. Luckily she only wanted the letter T which I can kind of do because it doesn't require any kind of curved edges. She then proceeds to tell us that she wants it on their left side because "they are mirror image twins and they each have a dominate side" whatever the hell THAT means. And keep in mind that she is repeating the EXACT same things to both of us even though we are 2 feet away.

So as I am carving this hideous T in the back of his head she comes over laughing saying I must think she is so silly for doing this......no comment. Ya know how people say stuff like that hoping you will say "oh no, it's fine" well I don't really humor them much anymore. Yes lady, you are weird. I am sorry that God blessed you with twins but maybe instead of trying to make them look different by giving them "different" hair cuts that look exactly the same you should try something else. I would be happy to break his arm for you since he is touching all of my stuff, I think a bright cast on his hand would help distinguish between the two.

David's Bridal

Let me explain something that I assumed everyone who worked in the bridal industry understood. If your clients are brides, your service better be amazing. You should be going above and beyond your job description to help make the lives of these brides easier. Brides do not have the time, patience or energy to deal with bad customer service.

Example A.

I purchase my dress at David's bridal (I love it by the way- the dress, obviously not the store because lets be honest, when do I blog about something I love?) the girls helping me that day were really nice so I felt good about it overall. The trouble began when they had to create the jacket to go over my shoulders. The lady takes my measurements and finally after 3 different drives down to Layton, it fit. Apparently it didn't matter to them that I was driving an hour for a 5 minute fitting every other week because they kept messing up. Yes I was annoyed, but I am usually a very nice customer and just deal with things like that because I like to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I am no longer going to be the nice customer that just puts up with your shit

I take my dress home a few weeks ago right after my last fitting. I take it off, and the put it right in the bag and send me on my way. I go take my bridal pictures and do all of that fun stuff. The bottom of my dress gets a little dirty-typical. On my way home Friday night, I called David's Bridal and asked them if they do a complimentary spot clean. They said they did one spot clean and steam and said yes, I could bring it in, it will be done in a week. Cool, great, perfect.

Not cool, great or perfect.

My mother calls me today (because I had her drop it off for me) and informed me that they wouldn't accept my dress. Apparently, the one time free complimentary spot clean and steam comes BEFORE they give it to me.

I obviously have a few issues with this stupid stupid rule.

1. Why in the hell would I need and or want my dress cleaned before I have even taken it out of the store? What are you doing with my dress that would make it so it needed to be cleaned? I am assuming this dress has been hung up in some room in the nice little cover since I bought it months ago. This is the dumbest policy I have ever heard.

2. You seriously won't take it back after I have worn it outside the store to clean it for me? WHY?!!? I just want the damn thing clean for my wedding day but since I have already worn it you guys won't touch it? How does that make sense to anyone? WHY WOULD I NEED IT CLEANED IF I HAVEN'T WORN IT YET?!?!? Correct answer? I wouldn't, which makes you a dumb ass.

3. I know for a fact my dress wasn't steamed before they gave it to me because they put it right in the bag when I took it off! Yes, it was wrinkled and no, I wasn't going to say anything because I just planned on bringing it back to get cleaned anyway!!

4. I specifically called the store to ask if I could bring it in. The chick said yes, I could bring it BACK in, AFTER I had worn it to get a complementary SPOT CLEAN. Who was behind the counter because apparently she didn't know the rules. She said it would take about a week to be finished which makes me belive that this isn't the first time you have needed to steam your dresses. I probably wouldn't be so upset if the girl had told me over the phone that they wouldn't take it back.

Once again, why why why why why would I need my dress cleaned before I take it out of the store? Who does that make sense to? Have any of you people been married before? Do you understand that dresses are sometimes worn before the wedding day and need to be cleaned before they can be worn again? I would like to belive my dress wasn't dirty enough in your store for you to clean it-but apparently I am crazy.

I hate you David's Bridal.

F-YOU

Call me a brat
Call me high-maintenance
Call me hard to live with,

but I HATE ROOMMATES.

Yes, there is a new reason why I am saying this for the 20348 time.

A new girl moved in and I walked in to the kitchen to have this note waiting for me.

Hey Megan,
I am your new roommate that just moved in. I hope you don't mind but I moved your stuff two cupboards over (Okay cool, no big deal). I don't mean to be a pain (AKA I am about to become the biggest pain in your ass) but if you could empty out another cupboard for me because I don't have any room for my dishes (you need your own cupboard for your dishes? Do my dishes have cooties?) Thanks!
-insert her phone number....(but no name...smart.)

I then open up her cupboard and it is no wonder why she doesn't have any freaking space: She has like 14 costco size boxes of fruit snacks and has a cooking sheet laid down to take up the entire space of the bottom shelf. Who stocks cupboards like this?? If you are going to be stupid with the way you organize your space that is not my issue. Shut the hell up.

Dear Roommate,
You're an idiot. No I will not empty out an entire cupboard for you and your set of kitchen-ware. You're dishes can go in the same cupboard as the other dishes because we are not 12 years old and need to separate everything we own in the kitchen. Congratulations, I already hate you.
xoxo Megan

After throwing a loud fit in my kitchen about how stupid people are and how I am so sick of having to deal with them, Bart and I officially decided we will be finding a place for us to live when we get married and I will move in ASAP and live there by myself. I would take creepy neighbors and scary living-by-myself-nights over living with 19 year olds.

I am starting to realize that the problem must be me, not them, because there is no way I would get such bad luck roommate after roommate.

Hi my name is Megan Bainum and I am impossible to live with apparently.

On another note, work sucked today.
We are having sale so of course it is going to be busy...NBD. I will tell you what IS a BD though is having people come in 20 min before we close and have a 45 min wait and want to be put down on the list. Wanna know what I have to say to that?

F-YOU.

24.11.10

I hate vacuums

I woke up at 6:49 a.m. this morning for a few reasons...

1. My roommate decided she needed to vacuum her bedroom which just happens to be located right next to mine. vacuum...at 6:30 in the morning...what is wrong with some people?

Actually I think I know what happened...my roommates are disgusting (surprise surprise) so yesterday when Bart and I got home after school getting canceled we just started cleaning. It wasn't planned or anything but one second I was doing the dishes and he was vacuuming and the next I am elbow deep in goop cleaning out my nasty shower that I have been avoiding because I am stubborn about cleaning up after people. The end result? A completely scrubbed bathroom, a vacuumed house, a clean bedroom and a deep cleaned kitchen.

So anyway, I think this is maybe why she felt like she needed to vacuum? Because the whole house is probably cleaner than she has ever seen it so as soon as she walked into the black hole that is her bedroom she realized it was a little out of place.

2. My leg started cramping up randomly. It has happened before and it is some of the worst pain. My whole leg will get this really dull but strong throbbing pain all over and I just have to sit and wait it out except I can't because it hurts too much so I got up and walked around and that is how I ended up here...blogging about my feelings.

3. I woke up cold... no big deal except combine that with my crazy vacuuming roommate and my leg it couldn't be ignored. I have been trying to keep the heater off as much as possible so we didn't have to pay $479 in utilities every month and it seems to be working but it is officially winter and I think the heater will have to start coming on at night.

Speaking of Winter...the crazy snow storm that everyone was talking about was so weird. I have lived in Utah all my life and never has school been canceled because of snow. Sure maybe recess was canceled but school didn't get out early or anything. Yesterday however, Bart tells me the high schools are getting out at 1:30 and then I get to my group meeting and I am told that USU is getting shut down at 2! It seriously blew my mind. I'll be honest I am glad I didn't have to be up at campus when that thing hit (it sucked, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was just another winter storm in my eyes).

After a few hours Bart wanted a Pepsi, he said, "This is what an addict must feel like" referring to the fact that he was willing to go drive around this crazy snow storm just for a Pepsi. We went though, it was pretty non-eventful but then I realized this would be a perfect night to make sure I knew how to drive in the snow! (I have only had my car for one winter and last year it really didn't snow that much) So Bart and I piled in and our adventure began.

We got to the first light and the guy in front of us just kept spinning his wheels and didn't go anywhere for the first 2 green lights. Finally, when it was clear this person had no idea how to drive in the snow, Bart got out and started pushing him. The only problem was this guy STILL didn't know how to drive so his wheels are spinning and Bart is pushing and eventually they end up facing the other road with oncoming traffic. The green light had switched at this point and there was a snow plow heading straight for them. Luckily drivers were paying attention or it could have gotten messy... Eventually the poor guy was able to drive off after Bart pushed him through the entire intersection. So here I was, officially nervous that I would be the next fool to get stuck, and my rescuer was across the street not able to help. Finally, after having about an 8 min. light, it turned green and I completely dominated. I didn't get stuck ONCE during our teaching lesson I was so proud. (Bart was starting to get frustrated by my driving though so we went home early, making sure I could handle everything in the morning.)

All in all it was a fun night. We made homemade hamburgers which always taste SO much better, and just hung out. I love winter! I realized I do need a new coat though, I have officially outgrown my one I have had since 9th grade...(is that a fat joke? I still haven't decided..) Luckily though Bart's mom gave me rain boots for my birthday so my feet were basically invincible.

I am so excited for the next few days! I have to work this morning but once I am off around 3 we are heading down to see our families. I have to work Friday night too so it will kind of be a short visit. Compared to last year though when I didn't even get to eat Thanksgiving with my family I am pretty happy with my options this year.  I know I have already said this but I LOVE this time of year!

Rules Football & Pedicures

Rule #9
Stop bringing your screaming, pouting, sticky, slobbery child into get a hair cut and then complain that we charge the same amount for a 2 year old as we do a 10 year old. Your child makes me risk my fingers because it moves so much. I dont know if I will end up cutting hair or flesh. And no, it can not have a sucker when we are all done if it has been screaming the whole time. I dont award little &%$@s

Rule #15
Do NOT tell me how to do my job. Do NOT tell me how to hold my comb. I have been doing this long enough I promise I know what I am doing and your hair is going to turn out great so stop talking about how everyone else has messed it up because unless that was me, I dont care.

Rule #24
I don't quite understand what you mean when I ask if you want gel and you say "ya, just a little".....so you only want the front half to have gel and the rest to not? Don't get it. If you say you want gel just let me put in the amount you need to make sure you dont leave looking like a fool

Side Note:
I am sorry it only takes me 10 minutes to do a men's cut. No I am not rushing, no I am not just trying to get to the next person. After doing 3208643 of the same hair cut it just doesnt take me that long. (because admit it guys, as much as you like to think you have a unique cut, you dont.) Just be happy you dont have to spend an hour in the salon and that it looks great okay?
...

I hate group projects. I hate over achievers in group projects. I hate people in group projects who make everything 3435 times harder than it has to be. We can get a good grade without having to spend 67 hours on it I promise. Also, no I will not miss another class for this group project. My other classes are important too and just because YOU can't meet at any regular time doesn't mean everyone can cater to your needs. I don't understand why teachers think group projects are a good idea. At least give us a choice so those people who want to do it as a group can and those of us who hate group projects and can do a great job on our own have that option too.

I know I may not survive the day if I write what I am about to write next but I think I will risk it. I am officially sick of football season. I go to 3 games a week if the Aggies have a home game and I am just here to tell you that no one has a body that enjoys sitting in bleachers for 3 hours 3 times a week. I love the Aggies and I love Mt Crest and Bart's team....I just have a love-hate relationship with the sport right now
...

On a side note; I am going to breakfast this morning which is going to be awesome because I never get to go to breakfast. I am also going to the Bridal Fair up on campus later today because, well, I am getting married and havent planned a single thing and I want to win a free ice sculpture. And I also hopefully get to have a pedicure today as well which is amazing in so many ways. It is going to be a fun day!

Babies

As I have been out and about these past few weeks something has been really bothering me...maybe if I write it down it will help......

What has been bothering me is this: Parents who take their children to places where it is clear children aren't welcome and don't realize no one really likes their kids except themselves.

Let me give you a few real examples...

While in the movie Grown Ups (rated PG-13) there was a couple who decided to bring their 2 year old to this movie. Not only was this movie clearly not for kids, it was also 920 at night when kids SHOULD be sleeping. But there he was, laughing hysterically every time the audience (consisting of adults) laughed. And I am not talking about a little giggle here and there I mean EVERY TIME someone laughed he yelled at the top of his lungs trying to copy everyone else. To make matters worse his parents just sat there thinking it was adorable. I am here to tell you it wasn't. Only you ( the parent of the child) think your kid is adorable when it comes to obnoxious situations like this..

Another example was when Bart and I went to Tuacahn Theater in St George to watch their rendition of Tarzan. The play started at 8:30 and just as it was starting a couple came in who unfortunately had seats right next to ours. This particular couple brought their baby with them to this play...this baby was probably like 6 months old and for some reason these parents thought it would be a good idea to bring him to a 3 hour play that was held outside and that was going to have lots of loud music and singing. This baby fussed the ENTIRE time. Just like in the movie I mentioned before we were really annoyed except even more so because this time around our tickets costs more than $40 and the program specifically stated no children under the age of 3 should attend this performance. Apparently this young couple didn't get the message because throughout the show he was fussing or sucking or crying or chewing on something and we got to hear the whole thing. It really bothers me when parents do this. YOU decided to have a child. I didn't, and I don't want to have to deal with having to listen to it. Once again, call a damn babysitter.

If you have a baby/toddler do not think you are the exception to the rule because you aren't. If you are taking your kids to a place that is meant to stay quiet then you are bothering everyone else around you. I am all for little kids running around screaming and laughing in places where it is appropriate but there are some places where you just shouldn't take them....no matter how cute you think they are.... :)

Grrrr

Michael Jackson died one year ago and if you didnt know that then unfortunately you must be living under a rock because every radio and television station feels the need to do a tribute to him all over again. For 3 months after he died all we heard about was him and suddenly EVERYONE was a Michael Jackson fan even though anyone my age or younger only knew him as some creepy guy who held babies out windows and who went from being black to white. I see these 15 year olds going on about how he is the greatest artist who ever lived....way to jump on the bandwagon. Dont act like before his death you even knew a song he sang besides Thriller -and the only reason why you know that song is because for some reason the dance team in high school always thought it was such a good idea to dance to that song on Halloween.- People die every day. IMPORTANT people die everyday. People who influenced lives in much better ways then he ever did DIE EVERY DAY. I officially hate June 25th if every year I am going to have to listen to his songs all day on the radio, and hear his name above everything else on TV. Boo-freakin-who.

Also, I have heard a few new "jokes" my clients say to me and think they are so hilarious while doing it. (If you haven't read the first few "jokes" click HERE)

-Me: You have a lot of/thick hair!
-Them: Yeah it is such a pain but hey, at least I'm not bald though right? (hahahahahhah-)
-Me   :|

-Them: If you see any gray in there why don't you just pick it out for me..heh.heh.heh.

-Me: ( show them what the back of their head looks like after I am done cutting it)
-Them: Yeah it looks good except if you could move some of that hair on the sides to the top that would be great (taking about their bald spot)
